CAD CAM Engine Turning
The two pen designs celebrating the English Civil War between the houses of Lancaster and York
Celebrating HistoryIn these two pens we illustrate just how effective our design medium is for depicting icons of historical merit.
The CAD CAM process was still in it's infancy at this time and we were still experimenting with what would be possible. This pen was unique for it's time in having both conventional engine turning seemlessly combined, in this case the basket pattern just visible on the near side of the pen, with 3D low relief in the same cutting, in this case the roses at the top, so that the tool moves in 3 dimensions simultaneously while the cut is in progress. No other engine turning machine can do this. We are waiting for a sample of the York pen to photograph. It will be added here soon. |
