Mokumé Gané

This is a much under-utilised area of engine turning where imaginative design plays an important part in producing unusual and potentially colourful objects.

These items were designed and made by Alistair McCallum from laminated sheet, engine turned through several layers and rolled out before either hand raising or spinning. It should be noted that the pattern bars used for this and several other similar pieces were custom made for each job, filed up by hand from 4mm thick brass sheet.
